D85 UK Outing- August 2006- Report by Fayyaz Sheikh

Dear members of the D-85 Family,

I am sorry to have been a bit late in writing the report and I thank Kadir for providing some pictures of the event took place in London & Brighton this weekend.

10 Families from D-85 UK agreed to participate in the programme and Shoaib Patail represented D-85 USA.  Arifullah had some unexpected commitments risen a day before the event and hence was not able to join and Waqar with his little Farhan had some family commitments so joined us only for Saturday dinner and some chat on Sunday morning.  Fouzia (Afzal Sultana) could also not join because of some urgent commitments.
There were 5 participants from D-85 G2 group including Fayyaz, Irfan, Ehtisham, Shoaib Patail and Hanif Haji.  Only Musa and Zahid were missing from the Group.  Other D-85 who came with families included Shahed Quraishi, Kadir Yousuf, Arif Zai, Shah Mohd Vaquas and Shams.
With Children we had a group of 32 on Saturday Picnic and 35 on Saturday dinner.

The participants were charge £ 50 per person.  This included a two night accommodation, light breakfast in the room for Saturday morning, working picnic lunch on Saturday and a Buffet Desi Dinner on Saturday night and a Desi Nashta on Sunday morning and an Executive Coach Trip to the famous Brighton Beach on Saturday.  The desi dinner and breakfast was at a well known desi restaurant in Southall who provide catering for the Pakistan Cricket Team on their tour of England.

People arrived late on Friday evening and boys gathered in Shoaib Patail’s room for a lad’s chat that went on till early hours of the morning.  Everyone was exemplary in following the itinerary as they all gathered outside the coach at 5 to 9 (amazing!!!! ).  Everything went on a schedule and inspite of light rain and chilly wind at the Brighton Beach I heard no moans from anyone.  We went to the amusements, tried to play some cricket with no joy from the weather, gathered for lunch, went on a train trip at the seaside and enjoyed a stroll on the beach side with Vaquas and Kadir amusing the boys with some superb lad’s jokes.  Pakistani cricket team entertained us on our way back with a running commentary in the bus with shoaib akhter demolishing English players to gain victory in the 2nd ODI.  Saturday night the lad’s kept chatting in Shoaib’s room again until the early hours of Sunday morning and inspite of late nights got up sharp at 15 to 10 for the Desi breakfast.

The dinner at the TKC Tandoori had a luxury menu and the breakfast of Halwa Puri and Lassi reminded of the famous Siddique Halwai of Kharader.

We had the accounts ready before people departed home to make the process transparent for everyone and would you believe we saved £ 100 which was donated to Shoaib Tauheed Fund.

All in All in my opinion it was a superb gathering and although I was the organiser and would say that anyway, I read from people’s faces that they were extremely happy with the arrangements.

Enjoy the photographs
